Being single is similar to being in any healthy relationship. You have your ups and downs, sometimes things are not perfect and you do have to get on with your life. Here are some quotes about being single that will make you identify and make peace with the feeling.
If you really are going to be a happy single, you have to stop
treating being single as the annoying time that you pass between
relationships and embrace it. Rather than focusing on what you lack,
focus on what you have: You. ~ Natalie Lue, Life Coach and Blogger of

It is amazing how many people misconstrue the state of being single. It is either associated with being lonely and desperate. Take Charlotte Brontë's quote for example,
The trouble is not that I am single and likely to stay single, but that I am lonely and likely to stay lonely.
Or, it is portrayed to be a result of grand dislike for the generalised characteristics associated with the opposite sex. Example? Gladly.
I am single because I am allergic for cursing words and bad table manners. ~ Hiroko Sakai
Spinster: a woman who wants to be free from a man's bondage, so she goes to work for an employer and remains unburdened by someone willing to pay her mortgage. By virtue of not wading into the gene pool, she never has children who might betray her to a nursing home - her neighbors find some excuse to do that. ~ Bauvard in "Evergreens Are Prudish"
Or simply because the single person in question cannot land a suitable partner. Like in this extract from Carrie Adam's "The Godmother",
"You'll meet someone soon. No one knows what's round the corner."
How many corners, because I feel like I've turned them all. I meet people all the time. It never works out. I don't know why.
What I often wonder is why society finds it so difficult to view the state of being single as a period where an individual is happy to be without a romantic partner, enjoying the fruits of singlehood and self-company, and yet is not abhorred, revolted or remotely chagrined by the idea of finding that special someone someday. And even if that special someone does not come along, it's still alright because love exists in way too many forms and percolates through to every individual somehow. It can be a conscious choice to remain single because a person is perfectly at peace with whatever his/her current situation is and does not find it compelling to be with someone else. It doesn't have to stem from any kind of commitment phobia or a deep-rooted hatred for the opposite sex. It doesn't even have to mean that a single person will not be willing to ever enter a relationship. It just might mean that being single is a whole lot of fun. Here are some beautiful words uttered by famous people throughout the ages about being single. Some are funny, some are profound and some just spilling with contentedness and pride stemming from love for the self.

When asked why I am single, my reply is simply; I consider myself a
black pearl rare in my authenticity, adding a mysterious beauty to the
select few who can recognize & even fewer who appreciate my worth.
So instead of dating, I throw myself into working in the field. If my
Boaz recognizes me amongst the black rocks...great! If not, the
magnificence of my rarity will simply radiate onto those working the
fields as well in the form of teaching, which is what I do.
Taking solitude in stride was a sign of strength and of a willingness to take care of myself. This meant - among other things - working productively, remembering to leave the house, and eating well. I thought about food all the time. I had a subscription to Gourmet and Food & Wine. Cooking for others had often been my way of offering care. So why, when I was alone, did I find myself trying to subsist on cereal and water? I'd need to learn to cook for one.

I've been having a lot of dance parties alone in my apartment while
learning to cook. Part of my quest to be an attractive single is to
learn how to cook and sew and get a license.
